AAUA Staff Member Abducted by Gunmen in Ondo State
There’s tension in Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, as Mr. Omoniyi Eleyinmi, a staff member of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen right in his own home. Eleyinmi, who works as the Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Education and is also a member of SSANU, had just returned from work on Monday evening when the attackers struck.
According to reports, the armed men invaded his residence along the Akungba-Supare road around 7 p.m., shooting into the air to send everyone around running before taking him away. A senior lecturer from the university confirmed the incident in a distress message, saying the victim had barely stepped into his house when he was seized.
His wife, who narrowly escaped being caught in the chaos, explained that the men had arrived even before her husband got back. She said they were already on the premises, still shooting, when Eleyinmi walked in and was taken without a chance to react.
At the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, said he was yet to confirm the incident but assured he would provide updates as soon as possible.
