Asake Shares Excitement Over New Track Featuring WizKid
Excitement is all over one of Nigeria’s trendy musicians, Asake (real name Ahmed Ololade), as he has expressed his happiness regarding his recent track. The ecstatic musician spoke about his collaboration with the famous singer and multiple Grammy award-winner, WizKid (real name Ayodeji Balogun), on the track “MMS – Mr. Money Sound,” following the release of Asake’s recent album, Lungu Boy, which dropped on Friday.
He shared his joy and experience working with WizKid on his social media handle on X (formerly known as Twitter), where he expressed how impactful WizKid has been on his career and how he has served as a role model since Asake began his journey in Lagos.
In his tweet, he said, “It’s no secret that WizKid is one of my musical inspirations. As a young, aspiring artist in Lagos, I’ve been waiting for the right song, so when the opportunity came, it was a no-brainer. ‘MMS’ stands for ‘Mr. Money Sound’ and it reflects my musical journey.”
Asake also explained the inspiration behind his recent album Lungu Boy: “Lungu Boy reflects my roots and growth as an artist. I blend local Lagos beats with global music styles, aiming to share my African heritage with the world.”
The singer, known for his Afrobeat style, has been on a successful streak since the release of his album Mr. Money With The Vibe in September 2022.
According to charts on various platforms, the album set a new record compared to its predecessor on Apple Music. It ranked 66th on the Billboard 200 chart, making history as the first Nigerian album to reach that position.
There is hope that the collaboration with WizKid on “MMS” will continue to push Asake forward, cementing his place as a leading trendsetter in the music scene.
