Bangladesh Mourns After Military Plane Crashes Into School
What was meant to be another routine training flight ended in devastation on Monday, July 21, 2025, after a Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crashed straight into Milestone School and College in northern Uttara, Dhaka.
Eyewitnesses say the jet had just taken off at exactly 1:06 pm local time before things spiraled. Within minutes, it came down hard right in the middle of the school premises. The crash left a heartbreaking toll: at least 20 lives lost and over 170 injured, many of them students and staff.
The shock has gripped the entire country, and in response, the government has declared Tuesday, July 22, a national day of mourning in remembrance of the victims. Black flags will fly across public offices, and schools will remain closed.
A full investigation is underway. Authorities have set up a high-level committee to probe the cause of the crash. Initial findings point to a possible technical failure shortly after takeoff, but nothing is confirmed yet.
As Bangladesh grieves, the hope now is for answers and healing for the families who never saw this coming.
