Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price by ₦100 Per Litre Nationwide

Dangote Refinery has announced a fresh increase in the price of petrol, raising pump prices by ₦100 per litre across Nigeria. The refinery confirmed that the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit has been adjusted to ₦799 per litre, while the retail price at partner outlets now stands at ₦839 per litre.

This marks a sharp rise from the previous prices of ₦699 at the gantry and ₦739 at retail level, which had been in effect since December. The company said the new pricing reflects its current supply and distribution alignment.

Industry data shows that Dangote Refinery recently relied on imported petrol to support supply following operational downtime at its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker unit. Meanwhile, petrol prices at filling stations nationwide, including those run by NNPC Limited, were already selling between ₦805 and ₦830 per litre as of Monday night.

Market watchers expect the latest adjustment by Dangote Refinery to lead to further price increases across the downstream petroleum sector.

The development contrasts with assurances given late last year by refinery president Aliko Dangote, who had pledged to keep petrol prices below ₦740 per litre nationwide in order to discourage fuel importation. nnwT@$0L#Y
