Some thoughts people have today are illogical. You may hear someone say, “I must not lose. I’ve been suffering in my business while others are enjoying. Now it’s my turn. I must manipulate them so that I too can gain profit.”
But manipulation is not part of God’s principle.
Children of God, we must understand that not all wisdom is from God. There is wisdom that seems smart, but it is not God-fearing. Wisdom that is not permeated by the fear of God is not true wisdom—it is demonic wisdom.
When someone leaves godly fellowship and enters certain groups, the spirit of demons can gain power. If the Spirit of God is not living in a person, what else will fill that space? Demonic wisdom.
It leads to a waste of love and purpose. Please, let this truth sink deep into our hearts.
Ways to Acquire Godly Wisdom
We discussed a few key ways to gain God-approved wisdom last week. Let’s remind ourselves again:
1. Be Humble and Seek the Right Wisdom
Proverbs 11:2 says, “With humility comes wisdom.” To gain true wisdom, we must be humble. Pride blocks understanding; humility attracts divine insight.
2. Have the Fear of God
Proverbs 9:10 reminds us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” When the fear of God is absent, the fear of Satan often fills that gap. The fear of God must be growing in us continually.
The Power of Spiritual Books
Many of our fathers in the faith have written powerful spiritual books. You’ll find them online, at home, or even in public libraries. There are millions of them.
The more you read such books, the more wisdom you receive to handle life’s challenges. Let’s seek godly solutions by feeding on solid spiritual knowledge.
Let the message of Christ dwell in us richly (Colossians 3:16). Say to yourself and to your neighbor: “Let God’s Word dwell in you!”
Let’s teach others. Let’s teach ourselves. Let’s live out God’s wisdom in all we do—even while cooking, walking, or working. God’s wisdom must shine through us daily.
A Life of Study: 50 Years of Faithful Reading
One of our spiritual fathers shared how, for 50 years, he never missed a day of reading two chapters of Psalms and two chapters of Proverbs. Every day, he started his Bible study by reading Psalms and Proverbs to prepare his mind.
He believed that reading prepares the heart for deeper reading. No wonder he became a wise and influential bishop. May God give us grace to be grounded in the gospel, so we too can raise generations of godly leaders. Amen.
The Habit of Continuous General Study
What do we mean by “general study”? Aside from spiritual books, read books on:
- Business
- Parenting
- Leadership
- Life skills
But make sure that what you read does not pollute your faith. Not every book contains truth. Always ask: Is this wisdom rooted in the fear of God?
Be cautious of Bible references taken out of context. Some writers misinterpret the Word. This is why we must know our Bible for ourselves—to discern truth from error.
Wisdom and Civilization: Stories That Inspire
Let’s consider the example of a young man who studied in prison. Despite hunger, rejection, and suffering, he continued to seek wisdom. He once said, “I have been tested in many ways.” Yet he never stopped reading and writing.
How Many Books Have You Finished This Year?
This year, how many of us can say, “I’ve finished one full book”? January, February… Have you read six complete books? If so, raise your hand. That shows how challenging reading can be. But we must grow through it.
The Dullest Boy Who Became the Best Neurosurgeon
There was a boy, the dullest in his school for years. He came from a poor home. One day, God ministered to his mother—who wasn’t even educated—and she told her son: “Read two textbooks every week on things you love.”
He liked plants and animals, so he read and summarized two textbooks weekly. His mother couldn’t read, but she would listen and say, “Wow!”
That boy eventually became the best neurosurgeon in the world. A neurosurgeon is someone who operates on the brain. He became great through discipline and study.
Success Requires Sacrifice
He didn’t just read for school. He read for life. In his words, “I didn’t attend classes often in school because I had already read seven textbooks for just one course. When I went to class, I saw they were wasting my time.”
He only showed up for tests and attendance. And yes, he became one of the best doctors in the world.
Make a Declaration
Say this to yourself: “I will become the best in my generation in Jesus’ name!”
Praise the Lord!
Final Challenge
Promise yourself: This time, I will not break my consistency.
Write. Read. Study. Teach. Develop the habit of consecutive study. Don’t forget—once we finish, we’re done. But wisdom never ends.
