IDF: Hamas Turned Gaza City Into the Largest Human Shield in History

From the Gaza border, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin made a sharp accusation: Hamas has turned Gaza City into what he called “the largest human shield in history.”

According to Defrin, Hamas has been deliberately preventing civilians from evacuating combat zones, even resorting to violence to trap them in harm’s way. In contrast, he stressed that the IDF is keeping humanitarian corridors open, allowing civilians to leave “for their protection.”

350,000 Civilians Already Flee Gaza City

Defrin revealed that IDF intelligence estimates over 350,000 Palestinians have already fled Gaza City in recent weeks, relocating to other areas of the Strip. He emphasized that all military operations are being carried out in line with international law, with humanitarian adjustments made for those displaced.

In a direct rebuttal to international fears, Defrin promised: “There will be no starvation in Gaza. Humanitarian aid will also be delivered to northern Gaza.”

IDF Expands Control Inside Gaza City

Defrin said the IDF now has control of widespread areas of Gaza City, pointing to recent intensive operations in Zeitoun, Sheikh Radwan, and Jabalia. These operations, he added, created the necessary conditions to launch the army’s new ground offensive inside the city, which began last night.
