Israel Defense Forces Finds Hezbollah Weapons as Tensions Rise Across Lebanon and Iran

The Israel Defense Forces says its troops have uncovered weapons belonging to Hezbollah during recent operations in southern Lebanon.

According to the military, reservists from the 769th “Hiram” Regional Brigade discovered one of the caches inside an underground Hezbollah facility. The recovered items reportedly include assault rifles, sniper rifles, RPGs, and explosives.

This comes as the IDF continues to assess a separate incident involving a vessel off the Lebanese coast.

Hezbollah had earlier claimed it struck an Israeli Navy ship with a cruise missile, alleging a direct hit after tracking the target for hours. However, the Israeli military dismissed the claim, describing it as false and maintaining that no Israeli vessel was hit.

“There was no threat to any Israeli vessel or its surroundings at any point,” the military said.

A military source added that while the claim was inaccurate, there is a possibility that Hezbollah may have fired at a foreign vessel, though no impact was recorded. The situation remains under review.

Meanwhile, the IDF has also released details of its recent strikes in Iran, including an operation targeting the country’s largest petrochemical facility.

The military said the site, located in Asaluyeh, was being used to produce materials for explosives and ballistic missile components. It described the facility as a key part of Iran’s weapons production network.

According to the IDF, the latest strike—along with another operation carried out over the weekend—has significantly weakened Iran’s petrochemical infrastructure, with more than 85 percent of its export capacity now affected.
