Over 30 Feared Dead as Bandits Storm Niger Community

At least 30 people have been killed following a violent raid by armed bandits on Kasuwan-Daji village in Niger State, marking another deadly chapter in the worsening insecurity across the region.

Residents said the attackers invaded the community, setting houses ablaze, looting valuables, and abducting several villagers before fleeing. The scale and coordination of the assault have left the area shaken, with many families displaced and counting their losses.

The attack comes amid a renewed spike in bandit activity in parts of the state, raising fresh concerns about the safety of rural communities.

Police authorities confirmed that security operations are currently underway in the area to track down the perpetrators. However, locals have openly criticised what they describe as the government’s failure to provide adequate protection, saying such attacks have become frequent and predictable.

As fear spreads across neighbouring villages, residents are calling for stronger security presence and faster response to prevent further bloodshed.
