RCCG Pastor Allegedly Absconds With $8,000 Meant for Missionary Work

There’s been a rather unexpected disclosure from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, revealed that a pastor of the church made off with $8,000 meant for missionary efforts. Not only did he abandon the funds, but he also left his wife behind and went on to remarry in the United States.

Pastor Folu made this known during a men’s programme held by the church. A video clip of her statement has since gone viral. She explained that the pastor in question, who hails from Ekiti State, had been posted to Cape Town, South Africa. During one of her visits to the city, she was invited to preach at his parish. To her surprise, the service was not held in a proper worship space but in a restaurant.

While she was ministering, a woman reportedly walked in, began removing chairs, and ended the service prematurely — clearly indicating that the space was being rented.

Seeing the situation and the need on ground, a donation of $8,000 was made to support the parish in acquiring a permanent place of worship. According to Pastor Folu, the pastor later proposed that the money be used to purchase a used vehicle, which would be leased to a local tourism company. His claim was that the proceeds would eventually help the church secure a permanent location. Pastor E.A. Adeboye, considering the suggestion reasonable at the time, gave his approval.

However, things took a different turn. Rather than execute the plan, the pastor disappeared. He relocated to the United States, abandoned his wife in South Africa, and eventually remarried.
