Russia Pushes Back Against Elements of US Proposal for Ukraine Ceasefire
The Kremlin has dismissed key parts of Washington’s latest peace proposal for ending the war in Ukraine, saying the plan includes terms Moscow cannot accept. In an interview, President Vladimir Putin noted that the US only shared portions of its blueprint and that the details need deeper negotiation before any progress can be made.
Putin reiterated that Russia expects Ukrainian troops to relinquish areas of the Donbas that Moscow now claims under its control. According to Kremlin officials, several rounds of discussions failed to produce meaningful middle ground.
Ukraine, on the other hand, maintains its long-standing position: any agreement must come with strong and reliable security guarantees.
