What the Scholarship Covers

Who’s Eligible to Apply?
This scholarship is designed for passionate changemakers from Sub-Saharan Africa who are ready to make a difference. To qualify, you must:
- Be a citizen and resident of a Sub-Saharan African country
- Be applying for a Master’s degree (and not already hold one)
- Be under 35 years old at the time of application
- Have a strong academic record (First Class Honours preferred)
- Show clear leadership and community impact
- Hold a valid passport and be eligible for a Canadian study permit
- Not have dual citizenship or permanent residence in Canada, the US, UK, or EU

Application Process
- Check your eligibility carefully
- Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application Form
- Wait for pre-screening — successful candidates will be invited to apply to McGill
- Receive a fee waiver and instructions for applying to McGill University
Note: Do not apply to McGill directly until you have been pre-screened by the Mastercard Foundation Program. Applications outside this process will not be accepted.
