“They Ruined My Skin”: Woman Exposes Skincare Clinic After Devastating Laser Treatment
A young woman, identified on social media as @iamthelma_, recently took to the platform X (formerly Twitter) to share her painful experience with a Lagos-based skincare company. Her post expressed deep frustration and emotional trauma following a treatment that allegedly left her with permanent scars. She presented screenshots and evidence, claiming that despite several attempts to reach out to the company through social media, she received no meaningful response.
According to her, she first contacted Hello Perfect Aesthetic & Laser Clinic in 2023 to treat her acne. Initially hopeful, she followed their recommended treatment plan. However, her condition gradually worsened, resulting in permanent scarring and psychological distress.
She further alleged that the brand is now threatening her with a two-year jail term if she dares to go public. In her words:

“On August 9, 2023, I reached out to Hello Perfect Aesthetic & Laser Clinic with one goal: to heal my acne-prone skin and regain my confidence. Instead, I walked away with a permanent scar, emotional trauma, and silence from the brand that caused it. This is my story.
I live in Delta State and school in Anambra. After seeing their flashy Instagram posts, I reached out to their team for help with facial acne and underarm depigmentation. I paid ₦30,000 for a virtual consultation.
During our consultation, they sent me a treatment plan that confusingly combined facial and underarm care. (First red flag). Still, I trusted them. I scheduled my first acne treatment at their Abuja clinic for September 22, 2023. Later, I traveled to Lagos for the second session on October 17.
At that session, they introduced laser resurfacing, showing me flawless before-and-after photos and assuring me it was safe and effective. I asked about recovery time since I had a vacation coming up in December. They promised I’d heal within three weeks. What they didn’t tell me was that a depigmentation procedure would be necessary afterward—I had no idea.
I booked the laser procedure for November 21, 2023, in Lagos and paid in full. During the session, I felt a burning sensation and voiced my concern. They told me it was normal. Even worse, I witnessed staff arguing over the absence of 4% hydroquinone, so they gave me 10% instead.
There was no follow-up. No check-ins.
On December 1, I sent a photo update. They advised me to use the 10% Kligman cream and check back in three days. Still, no improvement. Then on December 5, they casually informed me I’d need a depigmenting procedure in January.
I was devastated—about to travel, looking burnt, and never warned this could happen. Had I known, I’d never have done laser resurfacing so close to my vacation. But they never told me. That’s where the damage began.
Even worse, they posted my treatment video on their Instagram story before checking the results. My friend had to step in and ask them to take it down. Still, no apology. No follow-up. I felt used and discarded.
By January, I had completely lost trust in Hello Perfect. I canceled my next session and informed them I wasn’t coming back. They never asked why. They didn’t care. They just moved on.
For over two years, I struggled with burns, scarring, loss of confidence, and emotional trauma. No empathy. No accountability.
In April 2025, I posted quietly on TikTok—and suddenly, they reached out.
They said it was for a “virtual review.” I joined the session, thinking they wanted to offer help. Instead, it felt like an interrogation. The CEO joined, emphasizing how expensive their equipment was and claiming they usually discourage people from laser because it’s “intense.” But no one warned me.
When I mentioned being given 10% hydroquinone, they dismissed it as normal.
After that call, I involved my lawyer. She wrote them twice. They ignored the first letter.
Then came a reply—denying everything and threatening me with two years of imprisonment if I went public.
But here I am. Speaking.
Because I’ve been silent for too long.
Because this scar isn’t just physical—it’s emotional. It’s visible.
Hello Perfect failed me. They hurt me. And they tried to silence me.
