Flydubai Flight Incident: Copilot Allegedly Attacks Pilot During Dubai-Tel Aviv Flight
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has described an incident involving a flydubai flight as an alleged attempt at a jihadist terrorist attack.
According to reports, the aircraft’s copilot allegedly attacked and stabbed the pilot while the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight was in the air, apparently attempting to take control of the plane and cause it to crash. The aircraft later landed safely in Saudi Arabia.
Katz said the situation was brought under control after several Israeli passengers reportedly entered the cockpit, restrained the alleged attacker and helped another member of the flight crew regain control of the aircraft.
He said preliminary information indicated that the suspected attacker may have intended to crash the plane with everyone on board.
